Warranty and Returns

At Dashcam Zone, we want you to purchase with confidence. This policy explains the warranty and return conditions applying to products purchased directly from our website.

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.

Product Warranty

VIOFO products are covered from the original date of purchase as follows:

  • VIOFO A229 Pro Duo dashcam: 18-month manufacturer warranty
  • VIOFO HK4 hardwire kit: 12-month manufacturer warranty
  • VIOFO 64GB microSD card: 12-month manufacturer warranty

VIOFO offers a free Product Registration Program that extends the dashcam warranty by an additional six months. Once successfully registered, the camera warranty is extended from 18 months to 24 months.

The additional six-month extension applies to the dashcam only and does not extend the warranty on the HK4 hardwire kit or microSD card.

Customers are responsible for completing the product registration with VIOFO and retaining confirmation of registration.

Change-of-Mind Returns

You may request a change-of-mind return within 14 days of receiving your order.

To qualify, the product must be:

  • Unopened and unused
  • In its original sealed packaging
  • Complete with all accessories, manuals and promotional items
  • In new and resaleable condition
  • Accompanied by proof of purchase

Please contact Dashcam Zone before returning any product. Returns sent without prior approval may experience processing delays.

Customers are responsible for return-delivery costs for change-of-mind returns. We recommend using a tracked and insured delivery service.

Express-shipping charges are non-refundable. Products that have been opened, used, installed, damaged or returned incomplete are not eligible for a change-of-mind return.

This change-of-mind policy does not affect any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.

Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Products

Please contact Dashcam Zone as soon as possible if your order:

  • Arrives damaged
  • Is faulty or not operating correctly
  • Is different from the product ordered
  • Is missing an advertised component

Please provide:

  • Your order number or proof of purchase
  • The product model and serial number
  • A clear description of the issue
  • Photographs or video showing the problem
  • Photographs of the parcel and packaging if it arrived damaged

Reporting shipping damage promptly helps us investigate the matter with Australia Post. However, a delay in reporting the damage does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Troubleshooting and Product Assessment

Some dashcam issues can be resolved through a firmware update, SD card reformat, power-supply check or settings adjustment.

Before approving a warranty return, we may ask you to complete reasonable troubleshooting steps. If the problem cannot be resolved remotely, we will provide return instructions and, where applicable, a Return Merchandise Authorisation number.

Please do not return a product until you have received return instructions from Dashcam Zone.

Products returned for assessment must include the components reasonably required to reproduce and diagnose the reported fault.

Warranty Remedies

Once the product has been assessed, an appropriate remedy will be provided in accordance with the manufacturer warranty and Australian Consumer Law.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

  • Technical support
  • Repair
  • Replacement
  • Refund

If a product has a major failure, you may be entitled to choose a refund or replacement under the Australian Consumer Law.

For a minor failure, we may initially arrange a repair within a reasonable time. If the product cannot be repaired within a reasonable time, other remedies may apply.

Dashcam Zone will not require customers to deal directly with the manufacturer where we have an obligation to provide a remedy under Australian Consumer Law. We may work with VIOFO or the Australian distributor when assessing and resolving a warranty claim.

Third-Party Installation and Installation Damage

Dashcam Zone supplies this product only. Installation is not included unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.

Dashcam Zone is not responsible for the quality, safety or workmanship of an installation completed by the customer or a third-party installer.

Faults, damage or loss caused by incorrect installation, wiring, handling, mounting, removal or modification performed by the customer or a third party are not covered by the manufacturer warranty. This includes damage to:

  • The front or rear dashcam
  • The HK4 hardwire kit
  • The microSD card
  • Power and rear-camera cables
  • Mounts, connectors and other supplied accessories
  • The customer’s vehicle or vehicle electrical system

Examples of installation-related damage include:

  • Connecting the product to an incorrect voltage or circuit
  • Reversing power, accessory or earth connections
  • Cutting, crushing, stretching or damaging cables
  • Damaging plugs or connectors
  • Incorrect fuse-tap selection or installation
  • Water entry caused by incorrect mounting or cable routing
  • Damage caused while fitting, adjusting or removing the product
  • Modifying the product, wiring or supplied accessories

Any claim relating to damage caused by an installer should be addressed directly with the person or business that completed the installation.

If assessment shows that a fault was caused by incorrect installation or third-party damage rather than a manufacturing defect, the warranty claim may be declined. Reasonable assessment, return-delivery, repair or replacement costs may be payable by the customer. We will advise the customer before incurring any material charge.

Nothing in this section excludes or restricts any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Return Shipping for Faulty Products

Please contact us before returning a suspected faulty product.

Where a product is confirmed to be faulty and you are entitled to a remedy, Dashcam Zone will cover or reimburse reasonable return-delivery costs as required by Australian Consumer Law.

If an assessment determines that the product is not faulty or that the issue resulted from something excluded from warranty coverage, return delivery and reasonable assessment costs may be payable by the customer. We will advise you before incurring any material charge.

Warranty Exclusions

The manufacturer warranty does not cover faults or damage caused by:

  • Incorrect or unsafe installation
  • Misuse, abuse, neglect or incorrect operation
  • Drops, impacts, accidents or crushing
  • Water, liquid, fire, excessive heat or natural disasters
  • Unauthorised disassembly, repair or modification
  • Unofficial firmware or software modifications
  • Incorrect voltage, wiring or power supply
  • Use contrary to the manufacturer’s instructions
  • Normal wear and tear
  • SD card deterioration that is not caused by a manufacturing defect
  • Failure to maintain or correctly format the microSD card
  • Lost, corrupted or unrecoverable recordings
  • Removal, alteration or illegibility of the serial number
  • Damage occurring during an unauthorised or improperly packaged return

These exclusions do not apply where doing so would restrict a right or remedy available under the Australian Consumer Law.

Refund Processing

Approved refunds will be returned to the original payment method.

Please allow a reasonable processing period after the returned product has been received and inspected. The time taken for the funds to appear may vary depending on your bank or payment provider.
